The Alaska Ocean Festival is a conservation event developed to celebrate all things ocean. Musicians, speakers, artists, and ocean conservation groups converge in beautiful downtown Anchorage to spend a day celebrating our Alaskan connections to the ocean. Thousands of Alaskans flock to enjoy the arrival of the music, education, art and summer sun. Food vendors, a beer garden, the Seafood Olympics, a foot race, and the “Bucking Salmon” all make for one of Anchorage’s favorite summer events.
Our personal connections to the ocean are as diverse as the ocean itself. ACE's Alaska Ocean Film Festival follows some of these connections through a variety of both Alaska-based and international films. The festival travels to different communities throughout the state during the months of February and March.
ACE's Trailside Discovery Camps are designed to encourage
young adventurers to use all of their senses while
exploring the outdoors. Camps are held throughout the year and include a variety of adventures and educational activities to encourage students to interact with their
environment and with each other.
Every year the Alaska Center for the Environment holds the Spring Auction to raise money for our work to protect Alaska's natural ecosystems and quality of life. Last year over 350 people from across the Anchorage area and the Mat-Su attended this year's auction and helped us to raise over $40,000 for our programs and Trailside Discovery Camp scholarships.
