Give Your Voice of Support to Net Metering
The regulatory commission of Alaska has announced a proposal for an Alaskan Net Metering Standard. Net Metering would allow a consumer to lower his or her energy load requirement by interconnecting on-site generation facilities to electric utility facilities. ACE supports adoption of an Alaskan Net Energy Metering Standard and encourages our members to provide comments to the RCA before the July 13 deadline.
Bridge Pushed Back to 2018!
Anchorage Metropolitan Area Transportation Solutions (AMATS), a state-local committee with decision-making authority over Anchorage transportation expenditures, today voted unanimously to move the Knik Arm Bridge from a short-term to a long-term project, thus preventing bridge construction before 2018. With your support, ACE was able to effectively communicate our concerns about the bridge to our local leaders and we are pleased with the compromise.
Have your voice heard regarding federal climate change legislation
ACE has teamed up with the C-Campaign to mobilize grassroots support for the American Clean Energy and Security Act. We strongly support this bill which aims to mitigate the disastrous effects of global climatic change, create millions of clean energy jobs, and promote America's energy independence and security.

Comments on the Whistle Stop Project for Spencer Glacier are due to the Forest Service by June 30.
Work at ACE!
Alaska Center for the Environment (ACE) seeks an energetic and savvy communications professional. The Communications Coordinator will work as part of a 3-person Membership team. Primary responsibilities will include managing the ACE web site, producing the quarterly newsletter, overseeing graphic design needs, and assisting with database entry.
No to the Knik Arm Bridge
Testify at the Anchorage Assembly on the evening of Tuesday, June 23 on an Amendment to remove the Knik Arm Bridge from Anchorage’s Long Range Transportation Plan.
ALASKA OCEAN FESTIVAL - SATURDAY, JUNE 6TH
The annual Alaska Ocean Festival will be held this Saturday on the Anchorage Park Strip from noon to 10pm. There will be food and music all day long, a kayak pool, bucking salmon, a marine scavenger hunt, educational booths, a film tent, and much much more. Featuring keynote speaker Tim Richardson.

Business of Clean Energy in Alaska
The Business of Clean Energy in Alaska (BCEA) is a two-day conference showcasing the opportunity for Alaska to become a leader in Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RE). The conference will focus on understanding the challenges and best practices in implementing an EE/RE infrastructure. Attendees will gain insight into the experiences of governments and businesses from around the country, as they relate to Alaska’s unique potential.

Alaska possesses roughly half the nation’s coal. Come learn about coal mining and combustion impacts at the Alaska Coal Workshop Series, Friday May 8, 7:00-9:00 PM on the UAA Campus in Rasmusen Hall, Room 101.
Comment on the Anchorage Bicycle Plan
The Anchorage Bike Plan intends to increase bicycle commuting in Anchorage by connecting existing bike routes, increasing bike parking and signage, and launching programs to promote safety, education, and enforcement. This exciting plan has the potential to promote public health, decrease car traffic, and create a model for similar plans statewide. As the wheels get rolling on this project, we encourage you to take a minute to show your support!

Trailside Discovery owes much of our success to wonderful supporters just like you. Proceeds from the raffle benefit our Alaskan Quest Trips & Adventure Programs and are used to purchase new camping gear and outdoor recreation equipment. Tickets are just $25 each or 5 for $100.
