Title 21:
What Happened to Anchorage 2020?
Anchorage is revising its land use laws, Title 21 of the Municipal Code to ensure that land development and building standards move Anchorage towards becoming the great northern city described in the Anchorage 2020 (A2020). This comprehensive plan was prepared as a blueprint for development in the Anchorage Bowl over the next 20 years and was adopted by the municipal Assembly on February 20, 2001 with the help of extensive public participation.
Our goal at ACE is to pressure the Assembly to adhere to the A2020 plan that was originally envisioned - a plan that carefully guides Anchorage towards a healthy, safe, and sustainable future. As of September, 2007, the chapters within Title 21 have been revised. ACE will keep you up to date on the Title 21 Rewrite process so that you can stay informed on the laws that will influence the way you live your life in Anchorage. So what can you do to educate yourself about Anchorage planning and take action on the issues that matter to you most? Read on...
